This week, Platts MD Caroline Platt, along with her daughter, Claudia, has taken on a remarkable 100km trek through the stunning Wadi Rum desert, all to raise funds for Swansea based charity, Faith in Families.  Caroline’s determination and passion are being put to the ultimate test as she takes on this challenge. Not only is this trek a personal milestone for Caroline, who’s celebrating her 50th birthday, but it also aligns perfectly with our 50th-anniversary celebrations.
What better way to mark this special occasion than by supporting a cause that uplifts and strengthens families in need?! Our team have rallied behind Caroline, cheering her on every step of the way as she’s trained hard. By now, the team will be nearing the end of their trek, ending up in Petra, after climbing the highest mountain in Jordan, Jabal Umm ad Dami, which is around 800 metres higher than Snowdon.

Caroline says “As I start a new chapter in my life and  turn 50 years of age – I want to give back where I can by helping others. Thousands of children live in deep poverty, where their lives are characterised by chaos & trauma, who are cold, hungry, & forced to be grateful recipients of food banks & warm hubs.

Whilst I can not experience the pain & anxiety that they feel daily, I am going to challenge myself and Trek 100km across the desert & put myself out of my comfort zone, away from all civilised amenities (including my phone and PC) for 5 days to help raise vital funding to support this  fabulous children’s charity. I want to make a difference and help towards reshaping childhood poverty – as Childhood happens once in a lifetime and cannot be re-lived. I want to help towards a child reaching their full potential whilst feeling safe and valued.

Every pound I raise will go directly to this fabulous Children’s Charity – making a difference to the childhood of hundreds of children in local communities – thank you for supporting me and for your kindness in helping us change lives and create brighter futures in Wales”

Your support means the world to her and to the families that Faith in Families helps every day.  You can sponsor Caroline here – be assured that every penny goes straight to Faith in Families to make a difference, and read more about the trip in a recent article in the local press, here.
