The FCN is a voluntary organisation and charity that supports farmers and families within the farming community. From offering support on animal welfare to family issues, such as long-term illnesses, retirement and succession,
They have a network of over 400 volunteers across England and Wales, many of whom are involved in farming and have an understanding of the issues that farming families often face.
Those who need FCN’s support can access their confidential national helpline (03000 111 999) and e-helpline (help@fcn.org.uk). Both of which are open every day of the year, from 7am-11pm.
They have supported thousands of people dealing with a range of issues, providing free, confidential, and practical support to anyone who seeks help.
Platts Agriculture’s Commitment
At Platts, we recognise the vital role that farmers play in our everyday lives and therefore it was important to us to support the community in every way we can.
By partnering with the FCN, we aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of farmers and their families. So this year, we will be donating 1p for every bale sold to support the FCN in providing the confidential helpline services.
As part of our commitment, we’re ensuring that all staff receive training from the FCN. This will enable staff to recognise issues and properly direct individuals to confidential helpline services, farming business support, mental health support, and financial advice.
Our drivers, who are often the only representatives to directly interact in person with farmers, will be trained and hand out resources to those in need. Additionally, our other teams will distribute helpful resources at trade shows, extending our support network.
We believe that this partnership will create positive change and ensure that no farmer or family member feels alone in their struggles.
