In every community, hospices play a vital role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals and their families during the most challenging times. These nonprofit organisations rely on the generosity and involvement of their communities to continue their essential work.

We’ve got to know Alan Knell, Philanthropy and Relationship Manager at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Chester recently, following fundraising efforts from Mark in our Transport team, who last month, ran his first Ultra-marathon in aid of the charity. When he asked whether Platts would support their corporate challenge, of course we jumped at the opportunity!

This month, staff entered a raffle for the highly sought-after prize of an extra day’s annual leave- a duvet day! 2nd prize was a half a day’s leave, and 3rd, £50 spending money! We raised over £200 to gift to the hospice and know that this will go towards supporting the invaluable services, which are offered free of charge to people with life-threatening conditions, their families, carers and loved ones.

On the 5th July, Platts were fortunate to have a visit from local councillor for Wrexham, Nigel Williams, alongside Claire Hinchcliffe, Business Support Manager at Wrexham Council. As part of a tour of Platts, Nigel kindly did the honours with an impartial spin of the wheel, to draw our winners!

Rad Mrlina, Mechanical and Electrical Engineer won first prize – a full day’s leave, and is looking forward to spending some extra time with family! Sharon from our Sales Team was drawn second, receiving half a day, and last but not least, Andrew Straw from our HGV Team won £50 spending money, just intime for the weekend!

Above – Rad Mrlina won a day’s annual leave. Nadia with local councillor Nigel Williams, who drew the winners using ‘spin the wheel’! Andrew Straw – HGV Driver with his £50 cash prize!

Thank you to all the Platts People who entered and donated towards the brilliant work the hospice do, and be assured your cash is going to an excellent cause!
