Here at Platts Agriculture, we are dedicated to sharing knowledge and raising awareness on vital topics such as road safety. That’s why when Careers Wales offered us the chance to support local youth to connect with employers, it was a perfect fit.

The day began in the boardroom, where the students were given a behind-the-scenes look into the inner workings of the Platts Group. They gained valuable insight into the journey undertaken by HGVs, from the production site to the delivery of goods to farms.

Following this, the agenda moved to a session led by our experienced Class 1 Driver, Les. The students received a hands-on demonstration on how to stay safe around HGVs and understand the blind spots. Les not only explained the potential hazards but also shared invaluable tips on maintaining safety around these powerful machines.

Later in the day, the students ventured to our production site to see our machines in action. Under the guidance of Ryan, Production Shift Supervisor, they observed the capabilities of our machines, and even had the opportunity to sit in a Bobcat! To conclude up the day, Ryan shared his own career journey, offering insights and advice garnered from his experience in the field.

A big thank you to the school for visiting, and for Careers Wales for organising, helping local young people connect with employers. We are passionate about creating a safer community and there’s nothing better than sharing knowledge!
