Our cubicle conditioners are designed to be used sparingly on mats or mattresses. Since the mat provides the cow with a comfortable lying surface, a deep bedding on top isn’t required for comfort.

All that’s required is a light dusting on top to protect the top-cover, prevent any hock abrasions and of course, absorb moisture from muck, urine and leaked milk that causes bacteria to grow.

If you’ve invested in cow mats or mattresses, we recommend applying little and often. Sweeping off any muck and reapplying a light sprinkling is ideal for keeping cows clean and beds dry. You may choose to use a mechanical spreader if you’ve got a lot of beds, or just a bucket or wheelbarrow for spreading by hand. It doesn’t have to be a laborious task!

Is less actually more?

Using too much cubicle conditioner won’t necessarily provide additional comfort – but you may find that more product ends up getting dragged into the passageways as cows back out – and is wasted. Using just what’s required to keep udders clean will also mean less and thinner slurry is produced- not blocking slurry channels and easier to pump when the time comes.

Our Cubicle Conditioner products- Powderbed and Finebed are made from ultra-fine softwood-based sawdust, known for sucking up moisture and keeping beds as dry as they can be. Find out more by clicking here…
